The unique SRPA Family Learning Programme is a huge success once again
Our thanks go to all parents of students in Year 10 and 11 who attended and engaged in the Family Learning sessions recently held at the Academy.
They were invited along to gain an insight into the courses that students are studying. As well as sharing crucial information about the content of the courses, parents were invited to take part in learning activities that would be typically undertaken by students. One parent commented that ‘the sessions provided a real eye-opener on what a huge amount of work is involved for the children. Great information received tonight!’
A huge benefit for all in arranging the sessions is to share, not only with the students but also with the parents, all of the revision resources, strategies and ‘tricks of the trade’ that will allow students to maximise their performance in their studies. One comment received was ‘I have a greater understanding of the resources available’ and parents said that they ‘were now able to better assist my child with her GCSE revision’. The sessions which included all core subjects, languages, humanities and art, allow parents and the academy to further develop the support network around the child.
Parents have commented that they ‘enjoyed the session and would like more of the same’
The next phase of the Family Learning programme will take place in the summer term and will include an invitation to all of our new September 2018 Year 7 cohort to familiarise themselves and learn all about all aspects of life at SRPA.
Once again a huge THANK YOU to all parents who attended for making the evenings such a success!
