Careers & Work Related Learning Awards

Career Mark Award

The Academy has held the Career Mark Award since 2008 for delivering high quality Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance and has successfully revalidated in July 2022, achieving the Platinum Award once again.

We reward students for the employability skills they have displayed whilst taking part in various work based learning activities during the academic year.

We recognise employability skills with representatives from businesses across the city invited to attend and present the awards giving students and parents the chance to make links with employers and find out more about their business.

To involve students from across the year groups the following activities receive nominations

  • Enterprise activities
  • National Construction Week
  • Workwise Day
  • Work Experience (6 categories- Business & IT, Education, Engineering, and General plus two others which change yearly )
  • Student Volunteer of the Year
  • Apprentice of the Year

Staff nominate students who display excellent skills in team working, leadership, communication and initiative during their designated activity.

A keynote speaker is invited to talk about their life, the jobs they have done and experiences gained.
