16-19 Programmes Of Study

Our Academy is proud to offer a range of Advanced Level and Vocational qualifications and since the Wolf Review we have provided students with real experience and knowledge of the workplace to enhance their employability skills. This includes a work experience placement as part of their post-16 studies within our sixth form which we believe should form a key component of 16-19 study. It gives a taste of life in employment, tests their employability skills and helps with decision making on careers and routes of study.

Our study programmes within the sixth form are designed to provide all students with a structured and challenging learning experience that supports their development and progression in line with students desired career plans. Our careers education and guidance programme supports students learning and plans for the future.

The study programmes offered at SRPA include academic, applied and vocational qualifications as well as English and mathematics for students who have not achieved a GCSE grade 4. Our ASPIRE programme offers significant non-qualification activities that includes mentoring, volunteering and development of skills, character and attitudes to support progression and prepare students for life as an adult in 21st century Britain.

For students at SRPA with special educational needs and/or disabilities, the academy tailors study programmes to the individual aspirations and needs of the student in collaboration with the SEND team and parents. We are proud of our work with local traineeship providers and can support students who would prefer this route to continuing their studies post 16.

We have a focus on student progression from the sixth form and provide targeted support, which includes university visits, apprenticeship fairs, visiting speakers, workshops and development of life skills. This wraparound package of support complements student’s programmes of study and prepares them the best we can to leave us and be successful.
